Delhi University (DU) conducted an informative webinar on Wednesday to guide aspiring students and their parents through the undergraduate admissions process. The session emphasized that candidates must take the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) in subjects corresponding to those studied in Class 12.

Key Highlights

The webinar witnessed active participation from students and parents, with DU admission branch officials addressing various queries. The session was led by DU’s Dean of Admissions, Haneet Gandhi, and Joint Dean, Anand Sonkar. They provided crucial insights into the CUET application process and stressed the importance of filling out forms with accurate details.

CUET Subject Selection and Application Guidelines

Gandhi emphasized that errors in CUET application forms cannot be rectified once submitted, making it imperative for students to enter precise details such as name, parents’ names, category, and upload a clear photograph and digital signature.

She also announced a significant update: students can now select up to five subjects in CUET, which covers 37 disciplines, including a General Aptitude Test. However, it is mandatory that students choose subjects that align with their Class 12 curriculum.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Com (Hons.)

Addressing specific admission queries, Gandhi clarified the eligibility requirements for B.Com (Hons.). Science students aspiring to pursue this degree must have studied either Mathematics or Accountancy in Class 12. Those without these subjects can opt for the general B.Com programme but will not be eligible for B.Com (Hons.).

Importance of CUET Scores and Official Updates

DU officials reiterated that CUET is mandatory for all undergraduate aspirants. However, Class 12 board results will not influence the admission process, except for meeting the minimum passing criteria. To avoid misinformation, students were advised to rely exclusively on the official DU website for updates rather than external sources.

DU’s Undergraduate Programmes and CUET Requirement

Delhi University offers 79 undergraduate programmes across its 69 affiliated colleges, all of which require CUET scores for admission. This standardized testing process aims to ensure a fair and transparent admission system for all applicants.

Final Takeaway

The DU webinar provided crucial guidance for undergraduate aspirants, ensuring they understand the CUET requirements and application procedures. Prospective students must stay informed through official DU channels and carefully complete their application forms to avoid errors that could impact their admission prospects.

For more details, students should visit the official Delhi University website and keep track of further announcements regarding CUET admissions.
