Parliament has been suspended several times because the opposition calls for a debate on agricultural laws

A day after the presentation of the Union budget in the Lok Sabha, the Rajya Sabha, which met at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning, saw multiple postponements after opposition parties demanded that the House begin a discussion on the farmers’ protest.

  • Although President Venkaiah Naidu said time would be allotted for the same on Wednesday, opposition members refused to budge. They launched slogans in the Upper House, resulting in the suspension of the House four times without doing anything.
  • A similar trend was seen in Lok Sabha, which has been suspended three times due to relentless protests from opposition banks. Brief discussions on the vote of thanks were debated in the hemicycle in the President’s speech and documents were laid on the table.

Amazon win as Delhi HC orders Future Retail to maintain status quo in Reliance deal

In a significant victory for Amazon, Delhi High Court on Tuesday ordered Future Retail Ltd (FRL) to maintain status quo compared to your Settlement of Rs 24,713 crore with Reliance Retail, which was challenged by the US e-commerce giant.

  • Judge J.R. Midha said the court was convinced that an immediate interim order must be passed to protect Amazon’s rights. Amazon has contacted the higher court for instructions to order the enforcement of the award by the Singapore Emergency Arbitrator (EA) preventing FRL from moving forward with its R. Settlement of 24,713 crore with Reliance Retail.
  • Amazon has attempted to prevent Future Group, headed by Kishore Biyani, from taking action to complete the transaction with entities that are part of the Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani (MDA) group.

SC agrees to review guilty plea challenging Tamil Nadu’s 69% reservation

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court agreed to consider a petition calling for the immediate suspension of the implementation of a Tamil Nadu law that allows a 69% quota in educational institutions and government positions in the state.

  • A bench of three judges headed by Judge Ashok Bhushan issued a notice and gave the government of Tamil Nadu two weeks to submit its response to a written petition filed by a student, CV Gayathri, through his father, S .Vaitheeswaran, contests the constitutionality of the Tamil backward classes, programmed castes and programmed tribes (reservation of positions in educational establishments and appointments or positions in the State services) of 1993.
  • The law is protected by the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution against judicial review.
  • Article 4 of the law provides for a reserve of 30% for backward classes, 20% for most backward classes and undeclared communities, 18% for listed castes and 1% for listed tribes. Therefore, a total reserve of 69% is provided.
  • The petition said the law was contrary to the principle established by a chamber of nine Supreme Court judges in the Indira Sawhney case, which concluded that the “50% reserve will be the rule; It is only in certain exceptional and extraordinary situations to integrate the population of remote and remote regions into the mainstream that the 50% rule can be relaxed ”.

CBSE Class 10, 12 exams from May 4; the schedule has double shifts for the first time

The CBSE Class Council 12 exams will be run in two shifts for the first time to reduce the overall exam time.

  • The exam schedule, which includes 111 subjects, will be completed in 39 days, which is less than the 45 days allotted in the 2020 calendar. The afternoon shift will take place in four days and work will be done on subjects that are not offered in schools abroad, according to a statement from the CBSE.
  • Pupils in grade 12 will begin rehearsals in English on May 4 and end on June 11, when a large number of electives have been scheduled ranging from agriculture to beauty and wellness.
  • The Class 10 schedule begins with various regional language tests on May 4 and ends on June 7 with the Computer Applications document. In total, the class 10 curriculum comprises 75 subjects.
  • The exams will be held later than usual this year, to take into account that schools have not been able to physically open their doors to students for most of the school year due to the closure of Covid-19. It is only in the past two months that some students in grades 10 and 12 return to physical class, after months of home study with limited support through television and online resources.

Russian Sputnik V vaccine 91.6% effective: Lancet study
