BJP promises free Covid-19 vaccine in Bihar investigation manifesto

On Thursday, the BJP released its manifesto for the Assembly elections in Bihar with the first pledge to be the free distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine, once it has been approved by the Indian Council for Medical Research ( ICMR).

  • Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who released the manifesto in Patna, said: “As soon as the Covid-19 vaccine becomes available for large-scale production, everyone in Bihar will receive the free vaccination. This is the first promise mentioned in our investigation manifesto. “
  • The announcement sparked a storm of criticism from opposition leaders, who felt that offering free vaccines as a campaign promise during a pandemic was morally unacceptable.
  • Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted sarcastically: “The Indian government has just announced India’s Covid access strategy. Please check the state’s election calendar for when you’ll get it, along with a bunch of false promises.
  • “Shouldn’t the Covid-19 vaccine be part of the universal immunization program? Will vaccines be decided based on states participating in elections, BJP, states not governed by BJP? Making it an election issue due to a humanitarian crisis it is extremely immoral and unethical, ”said Priyanka Chaturvedi, head of Shiv Sena.
  • Congress leader Shashi Tharoor tweeted a video of Sitharaman making the pledge, with the comment: “You give me a vote, I give you the vaccine” … what appalling cynicism! Will the Election Commission hit her and her shameless government? “
  • Responding to Tharoor, top BJP Bhupendra leader Yadav tweeted: “Your attempt to distort Smt Nirmala Sitharaman’s statement smacks of desperation. All parties issue manifests.
  • Vaccines will be available to all Indians at minimal cost. States can do it for free. In Bihar, we will ”.
  • The head of the BJP’s information technology unit, Amit Malviya, provided details. “Like all programs, the Center will provide vaccines to states at a nominal rate.
  • It is up to state governments to decide whether they want to give it away for free or not since health is a matter of state, Bihar BJP has decided to give it away for free, ”he said.
  • Amid criticism, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami intervened to say that a possible vaccine would also be free in Tamil Nadu, which will go to the polls next year.

  • The proposal, which was made public on Wednesday, less than two weeks before the November 3 presidential election, is likely to affect several Indian companies who send their tech professionals on B-1 visas for a short stay to complete works on site in the USA
  • On December 17, 2019, the California Attorney General announced an $ 800,000 settlement against Infosys Limited to resolve allegations that approximately 500 Infosys employees were working in the state on Infosys sponsored B-1 visas rather than visas H. 1B, the State Department said.
