Gehlot recommends the Assembly session for the third time

The Rajasthan Cabinet recommended today, for the third time, to convene a new session of the State Assembly starting July 31. The Cabinet sent a note advising Governor Kalraj Mishra in response to his letter requesting details, although he was scheduled to hold a vote of confidence.

  • The revised Cabinet recommendation also did not specify whether a vote of confidence would be held, but mentioned that the government had a majority in the assembly.
  • Earlier today, cabinet members, led by Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot, deliberated on the governor’s note at Gehlot’s official residence in Jaipur.
  • At the meeting, they said they did not want any confrontation with the governor, who was the “head of the family” and bound by government decisions.
  • So far, the governor has twice deferred the Cabinet’s recommendation to convene the Assembly session, prompting Gehlot to complain that he acted “under pressure” from the central government led by the BJP.

Former Malaysian Prime Minister Convicted of Corruption

  • The judge said Razak did not raise reasonable doubts and prosecutors established that Razak had misused the money for his own use.
  • The current trial involved one count of abuse of power, three counts of criminal breach of trust and three counts of money laundering.
