Reliance 5G; Google to invest Rs. 33,737 million rupees in Jio

  • The president of Reliance Group, Mukesh Ambani, announced that the digital branch of his group, Jio, was developing a local 5G telecommunications solution. Jio designed and developed a complete 5G solution from scratch.
  • It will be available for testing as soon as the 5G spectrum becomes available, and may be ready for deployment in the field next year, said Ambani at Reliance Industries’ annual general meeting.
  • The broader context here is that China, and in particular telecommunications giant Huawei had led the establishment of 5G networks worldwide.
  • The Chinese company was also to be part of the plans for implementing 5G in India, as it had previously been allowed to participate in tests for the new technology.
  • The UK plans to remove Huawei from its role in the country’s 5G networks by 2027. Meanwhile, Google has announced that it is investing 33,337 crore of rupees on Jio platforms for a share of 7,7%, which is added to a significant investment since April which crossed Rs.1.52 lakh crore Google joined Facebook, which opened the cycle of investment in Jio Platforms by acquiring a 9.99% stake for Rs. Rs 43,573.62 million, as well as chip maker Intel Corp and Qualcomm Inc.

Details of the fourth round of withdrawal talks were expected

  • The fourth round of talks between India and China at the corps commander’s level, which was held in eastern Ladakh on Tuesday, lasted 15 hours while the two sides were working to finalize the next one withdrawal phase, Details of the talks are awaited.

Election Commissioner Lavasa has been appointed vice-president of the ADB

  • Election commissioner Ashok Lavasa has been appointed vice-president of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the multilateral agency announced today.
  • Appointed election commissioner in January 2018, Lavasa was to succeed Sunil Arora as the next election commissioner in April next year. He still has two years left.
  • If he takes the post of ADB, this will only be the second instance of an early departure of an election commissioner in the history of the electorate.
  • Mr. Lavasa has a long and distinguished career in the Indian public service. He is currently one of India’s election commissioners and has previously held various high-level positions, the ADB said in a statement.
  • During the 2010 Lok Sabha campaign, Lavasa prepared a dissenting note on the decisions taken by the voting panel on complaints against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.
  • The EC panel had given Modi a clear response to all complaints of violations of the Model Code of Conduct. Lavasa subsequently started skipping panel meetings, claiming that “minority decisions” were “suppressed in a manner contrary to well-established conventions observed by the statutory bodies of various members.”
  • Later, the income tax service sent a notice to his wife, Novela S Lavasa, on allegations of discrepancies in the presentation of statements The Compliance Department also began to investigate Lavasa’s son, Ab go Lavasa, for having allegedly violated the exchange laws.
