After one-day talks between the corps commanders on Monday, India and China reached a “mutual consensus” to withdraw from their disputed border in eastern Ladakh. Meanwhile, the head of the army, General Naravane, will travel to Ladakh on Wednesday to review the situation on the ground, discuss the confrontation with the ground commanders, visit advanced locations and interact with the troops on the terrain.

Speaking to a ministerial meeting of the Russia-India-China group, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar spoke of “maintaining international standards” as the only way to ensure a lasting world order. The Indian minister reminded his counterparts, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi of India’s contribution during World War II, and spoke about Dr. Dwarkanath Kotnis’ medical mission to support China against a Japanese invasion.

Baba Ramdev-led company Patanjali today launched an Ayurvedic medicine kit that it claims can treat Covid-19 in seven days and has shown “100% favorable results in clinical trials on patients.” The drugs, called “Coronil and Swasari,” were developed based on research and trials in 280 patients across the country, Patanjali said.

Later that day, the AYUSH ministry ordered Patanjali to stop advertising the drugs and provide details on the composition of the drug, which it claims is a cure for Covid-19.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has published an opinion on claims for alternative remedies, which says that “while some western, traditional or home remedies may comfort and alleviate the symptoms of COVID-19, there is no evidence that the current medicine can prevent or cure the disease”.

Following a phone call from the Saudi Minister of Saudi Arabia and Hajem, Mohammad Saleh Bin Taher Benten, to the Union Minister for Minority Affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, informing him that there is no international pilgrim allowed to travel to Haj due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Indian government has said it will reimburse Indian pilgrims who have already paid for their trip.

In a failure of the Vande Bharat government’s mission, the United States is likely to prevent Air India from operating charter flights, they accused India of violating a bilateral agreement by preventing US airlines from participating in repatriation letters from India. The United States Department of Transportation (DoT) has said that the way Air India operates on charter flights creates a “competitive disadvantage” for US airlines.
